Wonderful Wedding

I love weddings. Sure they are alot of work but there is just no better feeling than sharing in an event filled with so much love and emotion. I shared a spring day with Amy and Keith in mid-April for their special day and I must say that it was just beautiful. The sky was blue, the sun was shining, the bride was gorgeous and everyone was happy. The ceremony took place at one of my favorite churches in town, the First Prebyterian. I love the history and the architecture of this church so much inside and out. Here are just a few of my very favorites to share. You can feel the joy coming out of these images!:)

I decided to participate in the Miller's Baby & Child Contest this year which has been going on since March and runs until June. As a professional photographer we can enter 1 image from each of our sessions beginning January 2010. The prizes in this competition go to the family of the winning child's image and are awesome with the Grand Prize being $5,000!

Well......One of our images has been chosen to be in the final round of judging in July!!! Little Miss Tara is beautiful as you can see and she just might be a little richer this summer! It is soooo exciting just to be a winner of one of the 4 rounds since there are THOUSANDS of images entered in each round. Keep your fingers crossed that the judging panel feels the same way about Tara's image as my fellow pros! Thanks to any of my fellow Miller's professionals for your vote! This is 4 year old Adysin with her good friend, Sugar. I was told that she is not a big fan of having her pictures taken but from the massive amount of great, smilely shots we got you would never believe it! Natalie is a one-of-a-kind little girl. I have seen her off and on every year since she was about 6 months old and she just turned.....7 Years Old! I am in Love. This little beauty showed up via Fed Ex the other day and I am smitten! Each piece is a 6x12in metal panel with a super high gloss sheen that are strung together with a coordinating grosgrain ribbon for an over-all size of about 12wide x 24high...delicious. I hung this 3 panel one with a brushed silver hook but the options are endless! Love, Love, Love It! Oh..and the adorable little model on it is Chase. His session blog will be up on Wednesday..stay tuned :)

P.S. Wall Hangings come standard with three 6x12 metal panels but it can be expanded to include 4, 5 or even 6 or more panels! Great for kids rooms, play rooms or a bathroom since it is high gloss meatl it is virtually indistructable!

How did I spend Valentine's Day?

I can't think of a better way to spend a holiday dedicated to LOVE than photographing the wedding of one of my oldest and dearest friends in my life. It was such a beautiful time....very cold, but who noticed really. A small Sunday afternoon ceremony shared with family at Mary Quenn of Angels Catholic Church here in Fort Scott. It's been a few weeks since I've posted a foto fashion piece so I thought, with all this lovely winter weather, I would go all in with sweaters, boots, hats...the works. There are two things about this weather that I don't mind and might even stretch to say that I like and that is the look of a beautiful blanket of pure, white snow on an otherwise unattractive winter landscape and the NEED for a great coat. Coats are one of my weaknesses. I love them so. I think a good, taylored coat can be beautiful in portraits as well as all the new, adorable hats and boots that are oh so popular these days (love them, too). So cozy up and enjoy the latest "shopping trip" for a tween girl's photo shoot with a little bit a sweetness, a little sass and lots of style. Enjoy!

It's a cloudy, rainy, fall day today so I thought I would post a few summer cuties that didn't get posted yet. If you have a tooth ache or are diabetic you may want to look away because the sweetness is almost unbearable!

The first is the frame by frame distruction of a poor innocent ice cream cone in the hands of sweet little Camrie! YUMMY!

A couple of weeks ago we outfitted a baby girl for a one year session so it's only fair this week to outfit a toddler boy for his 2 year session on the arrival of fall. I love layered outfits and I especially LOVE hats! Cool colors, lots of layers for lots of options and best of all...oh so adorable hats. Enjoy!

On The Move

Little Mr. Gunner is 9 months old already (sigh). Ohhh how I adore this little man. He just absolutly lights up my day! He was even "posing" for me this time all on his own and is now on the move. His new little pearly whites made an appearance this session and they are oh so cute! His mommy and daddy are soooo lucky to have a baby like him. I always love my sessions with Drake & Mo! They are so spunky and full of energy. It was not quite as easy this year to get a hug out of Drake (he's too cool to hug a girl...yuck!) but he took one for the team like a trooper. Today's Foto Fashion is for a family with two tween boys for an in studio and urban location session. I love the bold aqua with the dark chocolate and denim accents. The subtle stripes and little punch of plaid add interest without distracting from the portrait. A great collection for an end of summer portrait with the cool colors and summer fabrics....before we give in to earth tones and sweaters.

Today is a variety for a 1 or 2 year old little girl with some natural tones and a punch of color for an awesome variety sure to please your girly side. The khaki and tan tones would be great for a natural outdoor setting and the bold colors for some studio or urban shots. I love, love, love the hot pink petty skirt and beany hat with giant peony!!! I would also do the pink chucks with the petty skirt and hat with some big pink baloons! Too cute!

Okay.. this is my new favorite family photo. Any of you who know little Tara know that she has a BIG personality in a little bitty body. I love how she is trying to be sooooo big and tall just like mom and dad. We had a deal that we would blow bubbles outside if she sat still and it was so windy (hence the natural wind-blown look) that the bubbles were blowing by themselves!

okay..it's not Friday but I should get a little credit for posting on a Sunday. Today I did the wardrobe for a more formal portrait that could be done in an urban outdoor or indoor session for a family of 4 with 2 little girls. The black, white and grey theme is classic and timeless and will look great with any decor. The sleek, straight lines add a contemporary edge to the portrait and the dots on the little girls dresses in the second outfits add a little playfulness. I love this combo!

I often get asked the question 'what should we wear for our session?' and of course the answer is always different based on each unique family or child sooooo....I decided to start Foto Fashion Friday here on the blog to help stir your creative side. Each Friday (hopefully) I will post a collection of outfits pulled off the internet to give you ideas for your clothing choices. Please realize that not all suggestions will fit all families but we will try to go with different styles (casual, dressy, western, in-doorsy, outdoorsy, etc.) to give a good variety. So for the first Foto Fashion Friday I outfitted a casual, young famiy with one boy and one girl for casual outdoor session. I hope this gets your creative juices flowing ( plus it gives me an excuse to shop online without spending any money:) ) Enjoy!

New Website Is Finally Up!

Okay..Finally! The new Memory Lane Photography website is up and running! I have been working on it between sessions, albums, volunteering and at any free moment I could get. I think it came out great. What do you think? I will be adding the Senior and Wedding Gallery soon and will also be adding a Products page to show you all of the great new products we have now! Samples are coming so I am trying to be patient...it's so hard though! We will be a little hard to reach this coming week since the website is now finished and it's time to remodel the studio! All of the new samples will look especially great on newly painted walls with bright, shiny new lights glowing down on them. Can't wait for you all to see the transformation! This kid is AWESOME! Nate has been coming to Memory Lane for pictures since he was about 3 years old. Since then I have seen him at least every few months and he is growing up so fast! His cute, chubby cheeks turning into the face of a kid instead of a toddler..round little fingers now perfect for playing his violin ( which he has been doing for years ) and a quick wit and great scence of humor always keeps me on my toes. Dog Days of Summer

Okay...here it is! I have never ran a special like this before but I am super excited to do it!

Because pets are family too we think they should have a chance to be in the spot light for a minute. As most of us LOVE our furry friends I thought it only fair to run a special just for them.
This is also your chance to give a little something back to an animal in need. All items donated will be given to the Blue Chip Fund to help a local animal who has no one to love it. I couldn't image my dog or my cat being hungry or hurt and having no one to help. So, in return for your kind thought, you will receive a one-of-a-kind custom photo ID tag for your beloved furry friend (and a warm, fuzzy feeling inside knowing you helped an animal who has no one.)
You may choose to have just a single pet, multiple pets (up to three), yourself with your pet, your kids with your pet or ,any combination there of, up to three subjects. (Additional subjects allowed for $10.00 each)
This special is not just for dogs but any pet that you love! (dogs, cats, horses, turtles, bunnies, etc.) Of course large animals, such as horses, will need to photographed on location only! (I had to say it)

Chunky Monkey

Since I forgot to post a blog last week I thought I would give a double dose of cuteness this week:). This little chunky monkey is Gunner and don't you just want to reach in and hug him and kiss him all over! He has a personality unlike any baby I have ever met. I swear he must have been a comedian at some point because you can't help but smile and laugh when he is around. I just love those big dark eyes and super squishy cheeks! I am so glad that he is a member of my Baby's First Year program so I get to see him again in a couple of months. I can't wait to see what he'll do next!

This adorable duo just celebrated their very first birthday and are now graduates of Memory Lane's Baby First Year Program. Brenlyn (on the left) is always a little more willing to participate than little Miss Brilyn ( on the right) but they are both just a joy to photograph. Since their first session @ 4 weeks old we have made sure to put them on the same side since they look soooo much alike! I'm sad to see them graduate but also so happy I was able to create their very first memories for them. Happy Birthday Beautiful Girls!!!

Rainy Day Fun

Our April Showers special was kinda last minute this year but I really wanted to do it! Always animated Mr. Nate was the perfect subject for these fun and colorful rainy day portraits. I think he did an awesome job and we had tons of fun in the process. The on-lookers downtown probably thought we were crazy since it wasn't really raining so my hubby (Josh) was the rain maker with a showerhead garden hose! Splishy-Splashy Fun Fun Fun!

Easter Portraits

I have had several calls about our Easter special this year and I thought I would drop you all some info. For the past 2 years I have been wanting to shoot Easter portraits outside. However, for the past 2 years ( as you all know) Easter has fallen early and it has been too cold and blah outside to do so. So this year I put alot of thought into what I wanted to do. I have spoken to a few of you regarding your opionion as to whether it was important to you to have the portraits BACK BY Easter or just have them taken before Easter. The general response was that most of you would rather have outdoor portraits delivered after Easter than the same ol' studio session delivered by Easter. I agree. Therefore, I am doing something special this year!
We will be holding our EASTER PORTRAIT SPECIAL on Saturday, April 4th at the Lyons Mansion and (here's the kicker) we won't be shooting one scene or even two, but THREE different scenes to give you lots of variety to choose from and still NO SESSION FEE! As always, we will not choose the package for you. You will have complete control of what you get. Afterall, they are YOUR pictures. Surprise number two: since we will be shooting only a week before Easter, your gallery will go online on Easter weekend for your family and friends to view and enjoy, PLUS I will email you a custom Easter greeting email made from the best images from your session to email to friends and family wishing them a happy Easter, PLUS since WE are now on Facebook we assume most of you are too! You may use this image for your Facebook, MySpace and blog as you wish. How's that for a nice change. We are making so many changes here at Memory Lane Photography we can't wait to share them all with you. Please contact us if you would like to schedule an appointment for April 4th at 620-223-6053.

Little Mr. Lane graduated out of the Baby's First Year Program and I have to say I am a little sad:( . I just adore this kid! He is so cute, sweet, funny and, most of all, a complete ham in front of the camera. Here are a few from his first year and his hat-tastic collage.
